Single-Serve Tiramisù French Toast with Espresso Cocoa Crème.
Thick and fluffy slice of homemade brioche loaf, creamy vanilla mascarpone topping, dusted with cocoa powder, served with a silky mocha style creme.
I’ve shared a recipe for tiramisù French toast before over on my instagram, but this one has a stronger tiramisù flavour…and is much more delicious and rich!
This recipe has been shared on my instagram, but I appreciate that not everyone uses instagram, so here is the full recipe for you here also. I hope you enjoy!
Click here for a recipe to make your own brioche loaf. If you have experience making cinnamon rolls, the method is relatively similar.

Let’s begin…
Ingredients
For the French Toast:
1 thick slice of brioche loaf (about 4 cm thick)
1 large egg
4 tbsp whole milk or single cream
1 tsp sugar
½ tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
1 tsp instant espresso powder or 2 tsp brewed espresso, cooled
½ tsp cocoa powder (optional, for a mocha note)
Butter for the pan (a small knob, plus a drizzle of neutral oil to prevent burning)
For the Mascarpone Cream:
2 tbsp mascarpone cheese, room temperature
1 tbsp whipped cream
½ tsp vanilla extract
½–1 tsp icing sugar, to taste
For the Espresso Cocoa Creme:
5 tbsp heavy cream or milk
1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
½ tsp instant espresso or strong brewed coffee
1 tsp sugar or maple syrup
Tiny pinch of salt
Instructions:
In a shallow bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, sugar, vanilla, salt, espresso, and cocoa powder until smooth and well combined.
Let the brioche slice soak for a minute per side, until the custard is absorbed but the bread still holds shape.
Heat butter and a drizzle of oil in a non-stick pan!over medium heat. Fry the soaked brioche for 3–4 minutes per side, until golden and crisp on the outside and custardy in the middle.
Make the mascarpone cream:
In a small bowl, mix mascarpone, whipped cream, vanilla, and icing sugar. Whisk until smooth and light.
Make the espresso cocoa crème:
In a small saucepan (or microwave), whisk together all the ingredients until warm, smooth and glossy. It should be pourable but velvety.
Place the French toast on a plate, Spoon or pipe the mascarpone cream on top. Drizzle the espresso cocoa creme and finish with a dusting of cocoa powder.
Serve fresh and enjoy! ✨
